1. General Passport Requirements

Regardless of your nationality or the type of visa you apply for, your passport must meet these two universal criteria:

  • Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned date of entry into Vietnam.

  • Blank Pages: Your passport should have at least two blank pages for the entry and exit stamps.

2. Visa Waiver (Exemption) Policy in 2026

Vietnam continues to offer visa-free entry to citizens of many countries. As of 2026, the policy is as follows:

  • 45-Day Exemption: Citizens of the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Russia, Japan, South Korea, and several other European nations can enter Vietnam for up to 45 days without a visa.

  • 30-Day Exemption: Most ASEAN citizens (Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, etc.) can stay for up to 30 days.

  • Phu Quoc Island: All international travelers can stay on Phu Quoc Island visa-free for up to 30 days, provided they fly directly to the island or stay within the transit area of international airports.

3. The 90-Day E-visa Requirement

If you are not from a visa-exempt country, or if you plan to stay longer than 45 days, you must apply for an E-visa.

  • Nationalities: The E-visa is available to citizens of all countries and territories worldwide.

  • Validity: You can choose between a Single Entry or Multiple Entry E-visa with a maximum stay of 90 days.

  • Documents Needed: A digital scan of your passport bio-page and a 4x6cm portrait photo (white background, no glasses).

4. Mandatory for 2026: The Digital Arrival Card

Starting April 2026, the Digital Arrival Card is a mandatory requirement for all travelers landing at major international airports (such as Tan Son Nhat – SGN).

  • Timing: Must be completed within 72 hours before your flight lands.

  • Process: You must file your travel and health details online to receive a QR code.

  • Presentation: You will be asked to show this QR code at the immigration counter along with your visa/passport.

5. Business Visa Requirements

For those traveling for commercial purposes, you may need:

  • A valid E-visa (selecting “Business” as the purpose).

  • For long-term stays, a Sponsorship Letter from a licensed company in Vietnam may be required to process a Business Visa or Work Permit.

6. Diplomatic and Official Passports

Travelers holding diplomatic or official passports from certain countries may be exempt from visa requirements under bilateral agreements. Please contact our support team to check your specific country’s status.
